Wading birds on Lake Nakuru. The first row are Pied Avocets (Recurvirostra avosetta, german: Säbelschnäbler, french: Avocette élégante). The second row are Lesser Flamingos (Phoeniconaias minor, german: Zwergflamingo, french: Flamant nain), behind them are Greater Flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus, german: Rosaflamingo, french: Flamant rose). The Lesser Flamingos have darker, black tipped beaks and are pinker. The beak of the Greater Flamingo is much lighter, and the plumage is whiter. (605k)

The Lesser Flamingos are a bit smaller than the Greater Flamingos. They have a dark red beak, while the Greater Flamingos only had a black tip on the beak. (684k)
